Second session in the first day of the Lausanne Forum

Session II was entitled “Historical Reading of the agreements conluded against Kurds in 20s Century” was faciliated by Dr. Hval Fatmi, a member of the Rojava Centre for Strategic Studies and a lecturer at the University of Rojava. The session included two topics:
Topic1: Delivered by the writer and historical researcher Faris Osman, Osman overviewed the history of Sevres Treaty in 1920, which affirmed the right of the Kurdish people to self-determination and the establishment of a Kurdish State. He also referred to the fight against every decision related to the Kurdish people, as well as the cooperation between the Kurdish delegation and the Armenian delegation in Sevres. He also talked about Cairo Agreement in1921.
Osman concluded that Sevres would remain a milestone in Kurdish history unless the betrayall of the major Powers.
Topic2: Ms. Fawzah Al-Yousef, member of the administration counil of PYD, she talked about the history of Lausanne Treaty and the main causes of it, as well as the issues it created. she pointed out the duplication attitude of Britain supported its business interests with Turkey, and supported Kurds on the other hand. She also referred to the negative Soviet attitude towards Kurd, and referred to a very important point that England had taken the Kurd in Sevres not for their issue but to obtain privileges from Turkey.
Yusuf concluded that the persistence of Kurdish uprisings from the signing of Lausanne to the date, the need for Kurds and the Kurdish movement to be alert to current international conditions and to take advantage of the lessons of history, and that the Kurdish presence will remain as long as this identity exists.
The session concluded with interventions by the attendees.

A note from Mr. Pavel Talabani, President of the Kurdistan National Union, outlined the Lausanne Treaty and its implications and was read during the second session.
